Thomas Alva Edison was an American inventor who lived from 1847 to 1931. He was born in Milan, Ohio. During his lifetime he made over 1000 inventions. Some of his most famous inventions were the phonograph (gramaphone) in 1877, the electric light bulb in 1879 and the motion picture camera in 1891.
